    Word from Jersey City is the Liberty Science Center is closing Sept. 6 for 22 months for a massive expansion,renovation and exhibition renewal project. The center sets July 2007 as the re-opening date. During this period,the Center will offer a small exhibition on predators and prey in the historic Central Railroad of NJ building,


    West Virginia



    The Wheeling Island Racetrack & Gaming Center underwent a $68 million expansion project two years ago.Wheeling Island now features a 151-room hotel with nine suites, and lists over 2,400 machines, meeting and banquet services, a gift shop and fitness room among its amenities. Wheeling Island showcases the best in live greyhound racing six days a week, all year long. The simulcast parlor offers thoroughbred and greyhound races
    from across the country.

    Winterthur, the former country manor of Henry Francis du Pont, has an impressive mix of tours, special events and exhibitions. Groups get a good taste of the holiday season by partaking in Winterthur’s “Holiday Tastes and Traditions.” Each year there’s a new holiday theme, with this year’s focus on unusual food and beverages of holidays past. More than 20 displays recreate holiday celebrations and their associated menus. As a bonus, the mansion will be decorated for the holidays, aglow with more than 40,000 twinkling lights.
